Our Team

Reza Sabetghadam

Dr Reza is an occupational physician consultant who has been working in the occupational medicine area for more than 9 years and in general medicine for 16 years. In the 6 years after finishing his master’s degree in occupational health and safety, he has been registered with the Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Dr Reza is experienced in pre-placement fitness assessments, workplace injury management and return to work, occupational health surveillance and fitness for duty assessments.

Michael Sargeant

Dr Michael Sargeant, together with Dr Barry Gilbert, established the corporate health clinic (PHM) at St Kilda Road over 20 years ago.

Michael has had a long career in general practice and occupational medicine. He has worked with emergency service workers since 1988, first with VICPOL as the Police Medical Officer, then through PHM with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Country Fire Authority, State Emergency Service, Department of Sustainability and Environment and Rural Ambulance Victoria.

In addition, Michael is the medical officer for occupational health with the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine. He has been a consultant in the development of health and fitness guidelines for AFAC, the NRTC (commercial vehicle drivers), Department of Justice (CORE), and the Australian Chapter of the Viral Hepatitis Prevention Board (VHPB). He is an accredited vaccinator. His special expertise is in the development, implementation and management of state-wide health monitoring programs, systems for the collection, storage and retrieval of relevant data, and quality control.

David Oberklaid

Dr David Oberklaid has over 30 years’ experience in general practice, and has worked at the St Kilda Road clinic location since 2000.

David is currently a surveyor with Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited. In this role he assesses other general practices to ensure they meet the standards of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Over the years he has worked with a number of major organisations to develop medical practice guidelines. He is on the Medical Advisory Board for Foundation 49, which is a not for profit organisation, run under the auspices of Cabrini Hospital. Foundation 49 aims to improve men’s health in the community.

In the past David has worked as Head of Staff Health Service at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and General Practice Co-ordinator at Epworth Hospital. David has previously been chair of the Preventive Medicine Committee of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Deputy Chair of the Melbourne Division of General Practice. Over the years he has worked with a number of major organisations to develop medical practice guidelines.

He has special interests in travel medicine, preventive health, men’s health and quality improvement in medical practices.

Lisa Laidlaw

Dr Lisa Laidlaw completed a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (with Honours) at the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Occupational & Environmental Health at Monash University. Lisa has been working at Public Health Management since 2002 and has been working in the field of occupational medicine for many years.

She enjoys performing health assessments for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. Her other interests include preventive health and travel medicine.

Alan Andrews

Dr Alan Andrews completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland having previously worked as a physiotherapist in WA and the UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has also completed a Diploma of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Masters of Public Health.

Alan is working in both general practice and occupational medicine fields. Alan’s special interest areas are Musculoskeletal medicine, Men’s Health and Preventative Medicine. He is also registered for Obstetric shared care at Monash Health, The Royal Women’s Hospital, Northern Health, Mercy Health, and Western (Sunshine) Health.
