Dr Ben Buchanan has completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and holds other degrees in Philosophy and Behavioural Science. As a clinical psychologist, he works with adolescents and adults to overcome internal obstacles and external life situations. His goal is to help people transform psychological problems into personal growth, often to the extent of not regretting having these problems in the first place. A focus on establishing a strong relationship with the people he works with and helping individuals challenge barriers and reach goals is key to his work.
Ben has worked with depression, stress, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, health anxiety, anger management, stress management, relationship difficulties, motivation and adolescent issues. In addition, he also has expertise in psychological problems that manifest and interact with physical concerns, and runs a body dysmorphic disorder treatment program.
Ben also lectures at Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine. As a scientist as well as psychologist his work is grounded in established evidence as well as empathy. He has published scientific peer-reviewed research on the connection between brain function and behaviour, and have undertaken academic work at the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Murdoch Research Institute and Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre.
Dr Zac Elizabeth Buchanan
Dr Zac Elizabeth Buchanan graduated with Honours in Psychology from the University of Melbourne and has completed her Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Clinical PhD, La Trobe University). As a clinical psychologist, she works with adults, children and their families needing support in dealing with internal and external struggles. These may include issues with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, OCD, social and relationship difficulties, life transitions/adjustment, and parenting concerns.
She strives to connect with warmth and compassion and is committed to building a strong and safe therapeutic relationship, as evidence shows this is a crucial foundation for positive change. Her therapeutic approach draws upon a range of specialised and evidence-based treatments, such as CBT and ACT.
Dr Elizabeth's services include diagnostic assessments, individual therapy and family-based therapies, however she works to tailor the appointments to suit each individual's needs. Most importantly, she aims to treat each individual as a whole, helping them to tap into their inner strength, rather than solely focusing on the conditions or symptoms they are experiencing.
She has had training and experience working with all age groups, from children to older adults; from those with more severe mental health difficulties to those with more common concerns.
